The RDM4.0 Consortium Successfully Completes the 2nd European Multi-Training Lab in Sofia

From 15 to 17 July 2026, the RDM4.0 – European Rural Destination Manager consortium successfully held the 2nd European Multi-Training Lab in Sofia, Bulgaria, hosted by Bulgaria Training.

Over the course of three intensive days, 27 experts representing all project partners collaborated to advance the development of the Teaching-RDM4.0 Methodological and Programmatic Guidelines. Through a collaborative and practice-oriented approach, the consortium transformed the European Competence Framework into the first Draft European RDM4.0 Syllabus, marking a significant step forward in the project’s implementation.

The programme combined co-design workshops, peer-to-peer learning, structured peer review, collaborative curriculum design and Living Lab methodologies. These activities enabled partners to refine learning outcomes, define effective teaching methodologies, validate the proposed curriculum in real destination contexts, and establish the foundations for future competence assessment, certification and Skills Pacts.

The Multi-Training Lab represents a major milestone in the creation of an innovative European vocational education model for Rural Destination Managers, designed to address the challenges of digitalisation, sustainability and governance in rural, inland and peripheral tourism destinations.

The activities were coordinated by Project Manager Luca Reitano, who led the methodological coordination of the laboratory and supported the consortium throughout the collaborative development of the future European curriculum for Rural Destination Managers.
